Every vehicle has an alternator, it’s what keeps your battery charged and keeps you mobile. Nothing lasts forever, not even an alternator, so from time to time you may find that the brushes have worn down and you have a charge light being displayed on your dashboard. If this is the case, it’s only a matter of time before your battery goes dead and you end up stranded.
You can avoid those problems by having your alternator serviced or at least inspected, and then if needed, getting any small issues dealt with before bigger problems arise.
